Objectives:

You will learn about the systematic development of a unique resource for family caregivers of someone with serious illness that:

  • Helps identify needs (informational, educational, support)
  • Enables caregivers and health care providers to have focused, clear conversations about what is needed so caregivers can give the care they want to give at home
  • Enables caregivers to “take stock” of where they are and where they are headed
  • Enables health care providers to more effectively meet the needs of both family caregivers and their care recipient who is ill with cancer

Dr. Carole Robinson is a Professor Emeritus, Nursing at the University of British Columbia. She is an advanced clinician in family systems nursing, palliative care, and pain and symptom management. Her research has focused on supporting family caregivers for people with serious illness, advance care planning, and decision making in advanced illness.
